The anticipation has finally come to an end as 'Shrek the Third' is now rolling out in most major countries between mid-June and early July. The film's impressive debut has already taken in a staggering $13.3 million in four overseas markets, including Russia, Ukraine, Romania, and the Philippines. Its broad appeal to general and family audiences has contributed significantly to its success.

With an additional $900,000 added to its total from Thursday night previews, 'Shrek the Third' has now grossed a remarkable $122.9 million. What's more impressive is that it drew in 18 million fans over opening weekend, surpassing the 17.4 million people who watched 'Shrek 2' on its debut.

According to Anne Globe, head of marketing for DreamWorks Animation, 'The movie played much more like an all-audience movie.' The film's success has exceeded expectations, with executives at DreamWorks Animation and Paramount initially predicting a performance closer to that of 'Shrek 2.'

However, strong business from audiences across the board has lifted 'Shrek the Third' well above projections. The film's impressive debut makes it the third-biggest opening ever, behind only 'Spider-Man 3' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
